Windchill is an integrated suite of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) enterprise project data, team and workflow management applications from PTC. CADDIT both sells and supports Windchill PLM and an authorized PTC partner in Australia.

PTC Windchill is a scalable solution which deploys equally well in small or large enterprise for managing design, engineering and project data. Special support in Windchill comes pre-packaged for managing data from PTC, Autodesk, Microsoft, Adobe, I-Deas, Unigraphics and Dassault CATIA products, as well as many others.  Windchill functionality is packaged at several different product levels:

• Windchill PDMLink – Manages and controls design data and data relationships through the product/project lifecycle.
• Windchill MPMLink – Allows design and manufacturing engineers to concurrently develop manufacturing processes and engineering designs.
• Windchill PartsLink Classification and Reuse – An internal design library that allows companies to better reuse parts and part designs.

Other Windchill PLM options include -

• Windchill Supplier Management – Helps companies select suppliers and manufacturers to create an Approved Manufacturer List AML and Approved Vendor List (AVL).
• Windchill Archive – Archive and restore selected information from the Windchill database.
• Windchill Business Report Author – Uses Cognos 8 Business Intelligence to create and modify reports.

Windchill servers are built on Sun's Java Servlet technology with a platform choice of Linux/Windows/Sun Apache Tomcat, IBM AIX Websphere server, or Microsoft IIS services. ACL access control is configured using LDAP. Customer data is maintained on a choice of either Oracle or Microsoft SQL 2005 database servers. It is suggested, as with many high-performance web/database apps, that the database be run on a separate physical server in a production environment.
