PTC Solution Day 2010 Sydney "Standing Room Only"
Written by CADDIT.net Wednesday, 03 February 2010 16:02
CADDIT is happy to say "PTC Solution Day 2010" Sydney Australia was hugely attended this year. By 9:00AM all available seating was taken and more seating was arranged. Then came more and eventually a few of us were standing for periods. It was a fantastic event - filled with presentations on new technology rather than marketing. For those not able to join us here's some highlights.
New PTC technologies focus on two important areas of improvement: user experience (mostly in Pro/ENGINEER) and systems integration.
PTC is dramatically changing the interface of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire - again. Product manager Greg Brown (originally from here in Australia but now working with PTC development in the US) demonstrated an early beta of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 6.0. The first thing everyone noticed was that the side menu seemed to completely disappear, even the 3D modelling space was controlled using a ribbon-like interface (already available in Wildfire 5.0 detail drawing workspace). To add to the fun Greg showd off some of the new direct-modelling ("explicit modelling" or "synchronous design") technology that PTC is rolling out in Pro/ENGINEER.
Integration is the continued focus for PTC market-leading PDM/PLM management software. ProductPoint for MS SharePoint server now supports Autodesk DWG native file format and soon also to support management of SolidWorks part and assembly files (including relationship data) as well as workflow automation of change management, etc. All of this just in the PDM system. Windchill in the meantime has grown to officially become the world's favourite PLM manager - now being used in environments having nothing to do with Pro/ENGINEER, like CATIA design companies in Aerospace.
We hope many more can join us for PTC Solution Day 2011. But we might need a bigger room :) Anyone looking for more information about the products discussed in this article can contact us HERE.
